Brady Rouhoff, a resident of Zumbrota, officially announced his candidacy for the Minnesota House of Representatives in District 20B on December 11th, seeking the Republican nomination. Rouhoff says the focus of his campaign is to protect rural Minnesota from urban sprawl, protect small businesses from burdensome legislation, and to be a strong advocate for public safety and responsible government.

Rouhoff holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master’s in Nursing Leadership, a combination he says provides both the data-driven decision-making and leadership experience needed to serve effectively in the legislature. “My MBA equips me with a strong understanding of business, budgeting, and economic policy, while my nursing leadership background has taught me how to lead teams, make strategic decisions, and solve complex problems under pressure,” Rouhoff said in a statement.

Growing up in District 20B on a farm in rural Zumbro Falls, Rouhoff says his upbringing has shaped his views on land use and economic development. “Our farmland is not just real estate,” Rouhoff said. “It’s our heritage, our livelihood, and the backbone of our communities.” Additionally, Rouhoff grew up in a small business family. “My parents owned several small businesses in District 20B, and I understand first-hand how challenging small businesses can be, but how important they are for our local communities.”

Now living in Zumbrota, Rouhoff says his campaign is motivated by a desire to preserve the quality of life in District 20B for future generations. “I have serious concerns about the future we are leaving for our children. I want my daughter to grow up in the same small towns, open fields, and strong communities that shaped me. Protecting our rural way of life, supporting local families and businesses, and preserving local opportunities so everyone can build their future in District 20B is why I’m running.”
