Periodically, as we approach City Cleanup, the City sends letters to property owners whose properties we have received complaints about in the previous year. The City reminds them that Cleanup Day is an economical way to get rid of items that they have stored in view that other persons may seem as unsightly, unhealthy, or dangerous. The City’s nuisance ordinances lay out items and methods of storage that can be seen as detrimental to the community. The letters these individuals receive encourage them to use Cleanup Day as a start point to bring their property into compliance. Many items are covered for residents in the annual Cleanup/Recycling fee included in the water/sewer bill. Other items, or extra quantities of items may require paying a small fee. The City has information on local for local salvage to pick up unlicensed or non-running vehicles.
