Sometimes parking can be the existential pain of travel. You arrive at a destination only to find that you will find that the parking situation at a store or an event is limited or chaotic. IN a small community with narrow streets, it is prevalent. Many communities have a 66-foot right-of-way that will include 5 feet of sidewalk, 3 feet of boulevard, curb, 10 feet dedicated to parking and still have room for 30 feet of traffic area. That makes parking easy. Our community has 66-foot rights-of-way with a 25-foot traffic area. So property owners groom their yards to the pavement. No one likes to put two wheels into anyone’s grass, but in no way should you be blocking other vehicles from getting though. Emergency vehicles can be 96 to 102 inches wide, much wider than cars and pickups. Our biggest concern is access in case of emergency but we also want those that drive larger SUV’s and pick-ups to be able to get through also. This happens during sporting events at parks in town and only gets worse during Mazeppa Daze.

Please be courteous and have safety in mind when parking. Respect people’s property, but leave clearance so that emergency response vehicles can pass on the streets if needed.

Have a safe and enjoyable Independence Day and be sure to enjoy upcoming Mazeppa Daze facilities.
