At the July 8th city council meeting he city attorney was instructed to draft an ordinance pertaining to Data Center construction within the city. The ordinance should be ready for review by the council at the August meeting. The Mazeppa Planning and Zoning has looked at drafts of other communities and how they attempt to control the construction of such complexes when faced with the expansion of the business.
The news of a proposed Data Center near Pine Island and the issues faced with the increased water and electrical consumption to the residents has created a lot of concern among the citizens.
By addressing a land use the city can control what type of industry is able to locate in the community. Look for more news after the August meeting.
