Thousands Attend Plowville ‘56
Conservation procedures en masse were demonstrated to more than 7,500 interested spectators Saturday at Plowville ’56 north of Mazeppa, in spite of a soaking rain Friday night. Skies cleared during the day, however, and it turned out to be an ideal day for the visitors.
In the plowing contest, two Olmsted county farmers defeated last year’s plowing champion. The two who live about 10 miles from each other were Glenn Steiger of Haverhill township, winner of the contour event, and Harold Searles, Jr., won the state level land contest.
Miss Faith Seymour, 18, of Alden, was crowned Queen of the Furrows. She is brown-haired and brown-eyed, weighs 114 pounds and is a graduate of Albert Lea high school. She was presented with a wrist watch. Runner-up was Rose Marie Thomas, 17, of Lakeville and attendants were Shirley Kronemann of Fergus Falls and Shirley Hilbert 18, of Redwood Falls.
Tupper, Bremer New Board Members
Kenneth Tupper of South Mazeppa and Ray Bremer of Zumbro Falls have been appointed as new members of the Mazeppa Board of Education.
These men will fill places vacated by Jack Siems and V.C. Sand who were re-elected at the last election but disqualifies themselves so that two new members from country area could be appointed to the board.
