On Sunday July 6, Pastor David Neil was honored for his 20 years of service at Mazeppa United Methodist Church. Pastor Neil also served the Zumbro Falls United Methodist Church from 2006 and through the catastrophic flood of 2010. The Zumbro Falls UMC merged with the Mazeppa UMC in May of 2012.

On July 6, United Methodist Conference Superintendent, the Rev. Michelle Hargrave, delivered the sermon and, along with those present at worship, offered a prayer that our Heavenly Father continues to bless Dave in his Christian leadership. Other clergy present included Rev. Rick Ormsby of Pine Island, and Rev. Tony Fink, pastor at Pine Island UMC. Also present were certified lay speakers Jane Stone of Red Wing and Cheryl Finnegan of Pine Island, both of whom have led services occasionally at Mazeppa during Dave's 20 years.

Another highlight of the morning was the presence of Pastor Dave's 89-year-old godmother, Lavonne Robinson. A delicious lunch was enjoyed by all after the service.

Pastor Neil said, "I am blessed to lead such a caring group of Christian people. I am happy to see how they support each other and others in our community and beyond. Each month the congregation collects a special mission offering to donate to a worthy cause in Jesus' name. In recent months, they have donated to Heifer International, the Mazeppa Food Shelf, and UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) which provides aid to many areas of the country and world affected by natural disasters.

Congratulations to Pastor David Neil on his 20 years of leadership at Mazeppa UMC. Worship begins at 10:30 on Sunday mornings. All are welcome!
