Special Service held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church

On Sunday, May 19, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church (also known as “Lincoln Church”) or rural Lake City held a special service “praising God and commemorating 58 years of teaching Sunday school by teacher Alice Atkinson,” the church said in a news release.

Atkinson began her teaching career when in 1966 she began to assist Hariet Siewert in teaching the kindergarten class. Over the years she taught all grade levels, the last 12 teaching grades 6-8. Countless numbers of students learned about Jesus from Alice. Nine pastors were privileged to serve Trinity during her long tenure.

Last fall Alice decided that the time was right to finish her career after the current school year. With the end of the Sunday school year on May 19, the congregation recognized her faithful service. After the service the congregation presented her with a commemorative plaque and hosted a meal in her honor.
